Thora Birch

Thora Birch, born March 11 1982 is an American actress. In 1988, she made her film debut with Purple People Eater. For this performance, she was awarded the Young Artist Award as "Best Young Actress under nine years old". Birch became a cult an infant, appearing in films such as All I Want for Christmas (1991), Patriot Games (92), Hocus Pocus (93), Monkey Trouble (1994), Now and Then (1995) and Alaska (1996). In 1999 she was nominated to receive a BAFTA nomination. In the following year, she played in Ghost World (2001) as Enid. She was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. In 2003, Birch received an Emmy Award nomination for her performance in the lead character in Homeless to Harvard The Liz Murray Story. Birch was also on Dungeons & Dragons (2000) (2001), The Hole (2004), Silver City (2004), Dark Corners (2006) and Winter of Frozen Dreams (2009). Birch also played the character of Whisperer Maryas well as Gamma in the Walking Dead's Season 10. Birch was born in Los Angeles, the eldest child of Jack Birch and Carol Connors. Birch is German-Jewishand has Scandinavian and French-Canadian in her ancestry.  The name Thora, which she has adopted, is taken from the name of Thora, the Norse god thunder and lightning ("Thor"), which would have been her name if she had been a child. Kian Bolt Birch is her younger brother. Both of her parents had roles in adult-oriented films and starred in Deep Throat. Based on their own experiences in the entertainment business and their own experience, they were hesitant at first to encourage Thora. However, Thora's image was shown to agents when a babysitter saw her fake commercials. The first time she got noticed was at the age of four, after her babysitter brought her along to an audition for an Quaker Oats commercial.
